Major Christian Cults

Get out of what you're in! Your soul depends on it!
  • Four (4) Major Christian Cults

    1.  Roman Catholic Church proclaims the following: (1) by Baptism the Catholic is born again, (2) by Confirmation the Catholic is made a strong, perfect Christian and soldier; (3) by the Eucharist the Catholic is furnished daily spiritual food; (4) by Penance the Catholic heals the soul wounded by sin; (5) by Extreme Unction the Catholic removes the last remnant of human frailty, and prepares the soul for eternal life, (6) by Holy Orders the Catholic ministers are supplied to the Catholic Church; and (7) by Matrimony the Catholic is bestowed with the necessary graces to rear children in the love and fear of God, for members of the Church militant, and for future citizens of heaven.

    Through Catholic sacraments only is salvation obtained;

    Jesus' blood is not sufficient for cleansing away all sins, only the mortal ones; the venial sins must be purged away in purgatory by the sinner before he or she can enter heaven;

The Virgin Mary was a Virgin prior to the birth of Jesus and remained a Virgin until her death, which at such a time, she wasn't buried, but was taken up to heaven. (She had no other children as the Protestants proclaim).

Though professing the Trinity, the Roman Catholic Church is in great error in its teachings of salvation by works, the insufficiency of Jesus' blood, the Virgin Mary's role and identity, purgatory, the Pope, its priesthood, and a number of other items.

The Virgin Mary is worshipped as the Queen of Heaven, and Co-Redemptress, that is, being that Christ came from her we must go back through her to get to Him.

    2.  Seven-day Adventism (Seventh-day Adventist) proclaim the following: Saturday, the seventh (7th) day of the week is the worship day, and those who worship on Sunday, the first (1st) day of the week have the mark of the beast.  Additionally, Adventists proclaim: (1) there is an annihilation of the wicked instead of an eternal hell, (2) believers who die enter a state of soul sleep instead of going to an eternal heaven, (3) worshiping on Saturday is a must in order to be saved, (4) Ellen G. White, the founder of Seventh-day Adventism is a true prophet of God even though many of her prophecies failed to come true, and (5) Jesus entered the second (2nd) phrase of His redemptive work on October 22, 1844, as prophesied by Hiram Edson.

There are some Seventh-day Adventist who appear to believe identically to orthodox Christians, with the exception of the worship day, holding that the Saturday Sabbath should still be the day of observance instead of Sunday.

Today the denomination reports that it has 780,000 members in the United States and 7.8 million members elsewhere, many in Catholic countries.

According to Ellen Whiter, the papacy is the seven-headed beast from the sea in Revelation 13:1–10. Accompanying this beast is a lamb-like beast from the earth (Rev. 13:11–18). The latter causes the world to worship the former and has an image made of it. White proclaimed that the second beast is the United States (The Great Controversy, 387–8), and that it will force people to worship the papacy by "enforcing some observance which shall be an act of homage to the papacy" (ibid., 389). This observance, she says, is Sunday worship rather than Saturday worship.

White claims that the papacy changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday, making this change a mark of its authority.  In her view, there will come a time when the United States will establish a "national Sunday law" and compel its citizens to worship on Sunday and thus take the mark of the beast.  It will not compel them to become Catholics, but to join a Protestant state-church that is an "image" of the papacy, and thus, "the image of the beast" (ibid., 382–96).

Orthodox Christianity refers to a body of essential biblical teachings embrace and practiced not to be classified as a Christian cult.  Any one or more deviations from this mandatory requirement falls short of the glory of God, in that, it does not acknowledge and accept the work of Christ, and the word of God as reflected in the Holy Bible.  Such are heresies and heretics (deviations from, or denial of orthodox Christian doctrines), as reflected as follows:

Seventh-Day Adventism denies the Biblical Doctrine of the Atoning Sacrifice of Christ as the only means of man’s salvation.

Seventh-Day Adventism denies the finality of the work of Christ on the cross, hence it makes Christ's last cry on the cross, "It is finished," to be a lie!

Seventh-Day Adventism declares Satan to be the joint sin-bearer, and the vicarious substitute of the sinner.

Seventh-Day Adventists teach that the Lord Jesus Christ inherited a sinful, fallen nature.

Seventh-Day Adventism believes in Soul-sleep after death and Conditional Immortality.

Seventh-Day Adventism tries to force the believer back under Law and so away from Grace, by their Sabbath teachings.

The Seventh-day Adventists rely on what they consider to be the "inspired authorities" or " the Bible supported by the writings of Ellen White."  Ellen White's standard work is "The Great Conversey between Christ and Satan," and "The Great Conversey" is considered to be her last great book.  Seventh-day Adventists rely strongly on these writings in the practice of their faith.

Annihilationism is the doctrine that sinners are totally destroyed rather than tormented forever in hell, and eventually the lake of fire.

Conditional immortality is the doctrine that a human soul is not immortal unless it's given eternal life.

The doctrines of annihilationism and conditional immortality are directly related and inseperatable, in that, Adventism asserts that God will eventually destroy or annihilate the wicked, wherein, leaving only the righteous to live in immortality, which is totally contrary to orthodox Bibilical teachings.

Some annihilationists believe that the wicked will be punished for their sins in the like of fire before being totally destroyed; whereas, others hold that hell is a false doctrine of pagan origin.  Regardless of annihilationists' beliefs, they are contrary to orthodox Bibilical teachings.

Annihilationist denominations include the Seventh-day Adventists, Bible Students, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christadelphians, and various Advent Christian churches.  Annihilationists base its doctrine on their exegesis of Scripture, some church writing(s), historical criticism of the doctrine of hell, and the concept of God as too loving to punish his creations forever.  Annihilationism has also been proposed by some Protestant and Anglican writers.

Soul-sleep is the denial of human's conscious existence between when he or she dies and the day of resurrection.  Also called the intermediate state of the believer, in which, those who hold to this doctrine view both the body and the soul laying at rest in the ground until the resurrection, which is contrary to orthodox Bibilical teachings.

    3.  Jehovah's Witnesses (The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society) (Charles Taze Russell) proclaim the following:  God is a single person, not a Trinity, who does not know all things and is not everywhere.  He first created Michael the Archangel through whom He created all "other things," including the universe, the earth, Adam and Eve, etc.

Michael the Archangel became a human, in the form of Jesus, who grew and kept all the laws of God and never sinned.

When Jesus was crucified, it was not on a cross, but on a torture stake, where he bore the sins of mankind, "but this did not include Adam's sins. "

Jesus rose from the dead as a spirit, not physically (his body was dissolved and taken by God) and during his visitations to people on earth, he manifested a temporary physical body for them to see and touch.  Thus began the true Christian church of Jehovah's followers.

This organization claims to be the only true channel of God's truth on earth today and that it alone can properly interpret God's word since it is the angel directed, prophet of God on earth.

Christendom is filled with pastors who are antichrists, in churches run by Satan, and who support the earthly governments which are all of the devil.  In other words, all of Christianity is false and only the Jehovah's Witness "theocratic" organization lead by several men in Brooklyn, New York, is true.

During the millennium, this 1000 year period, people will be resurrected and have a second chance to receive eternal salvation by following the principles of Jehovah's Organization on earth known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

After the millennium, those who reject God and His organization will be annihilated; that is, they will cease to exist.

The rest of the Jehovah's Witness who have faithfully followed God's organization on earth will be saved from eternal annihilation and reside forever on Paradise earth.

Heaven, however, is a place for a special group of 144,000 Jehovah's Witnesses -- the only ones who are "born again" and who alone are allowed to take communion in their annual communion service.

"The born again" are the ones who have "immortal life,"  all other Witnesses have "everlasting life."

Those with immortal life do not have resurrected bodies, but rather, "spirit bodies."

Those with everlasting life on Paradise Earth have " resurrected bodies" that must be maintained through eating, rest, etc.

Jehovah's Witnesses' men are not supposed have long hair or wear beards and women are to dress in modest apparel.

Jehovah's Witnesses refuse to vote, salute the flag, sing the "Star Spangled Banner, celebrate birthdays or Christmas, won't take blood transfusions, and prohibited from joining  the armed forces.

    4.  The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints (Mormons) proclaim the following: God is our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ is His Son, and the Holy Ghost is a spirit sent by God to teach truth, inspire, and comfort.  Each of these is a distinct, individual being.  God is the father of all and our relationship with Him is like that of a Father/child.  God is not immaterial but has a body of flesh and bone.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ  is the literal Son of God.  God is His Father just as He is the Father of all people.  This is why Mormons believe Jesus is our brother, but God is the Father of Jesus physically as well as spiritually, and so called the Only Begotten of God.

Mormons believe that the Holy Ghost is a spirit personage separate from God and Jesus Christ.  Because the Holy Ghost has no body, it is through Him that the influence of God can be everywhere.

The Mormon church views Jesus and Satan as spirit brothers and sons of God. God put forth His plan of salvation for the world, and Satan proposed his own plan. Jesus accepted the Father's plan and offered to implement it as the Savior. The Father chose Jesus, and the spirit of Jesus was given a body through the virgin Mary. He was crucified on a Roman cross, and rose from the dead three days later to establish His deity. The character and life of Jesus is attainable by anyone who performs at such a righteous level.

The Mormon church holds that Jesus Christ overcame physical death and guaranteed physical resurrection to all mankind. However, spiritual death can only be avoided through personal obedience of God's commandments.

Mormons believe salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.  Jesus is saving us from death; physical death will come to everyone because of the Fall of Adam; the resurrection of Jesus Christ overcame this death and everyone who lived on earth will be resurrected with an immortal body.  There is also a spiritual death.

Forgiveness of sins requires faith, repentance and baptism by an approved Mormon priest. The practice of baptism for the dead is an extension of this belief, in which Mormons are baptized in proxy for those who have died without proper baptism.

Mormons believe that there are in fact four (4) sources of divinely inspired words, instead of just one. 1) The Bible “as far as it is translated correctly.” Which verses are incorrectly translated are not always made clear 2) The Book of Mormon was “translated” by Smith and published in 1830. Smith claimed it is the “most correct book” on earth, and that a person could get closer to God by following its precepts, “than by any other book.” 3) The Doctrine and Covenants is considered scripture by Mormons, containing a collection of modern revelations regarding the “Church of Jesus Christ as it has been restored.” 4) The Pearl of the Great Price is considered by Mormons to “clarify” doctrines and teachings that were lost from the Bible and adds its own information about the earth's creation.

Mormons believe that there are different levels or kingdoms in the afterlife: The Celestial Kingdom, the Terrestrial Kingdom, the Telestial Kingdom and outer darkness. Where mankind will end up depends on what they believe and do in this mortal life.

The Mormon church maintains that although there is temporary punishment for those that are most wicked, Jesus Christ will establish a new kingdom that will consist of three levels: the celestial kingdom, the terrestrial kingdom, and the telestial kingdom.

The Celestial Kingdom is the highest and most glorious of the degrees of glory and is symbolically represented by the sun. It is this kingdom where God Himself reigns. It is understood that the Celestial Kingdom itself contains many degrees of glory. Anyone who inherits any degree of glory in the Celestial Kingdom dwells in God's presence.

The Terrestrial kingdom is symbolically represented as the moon. It is related to the moon because although it does not give forth as much light as the sun (Celestial), it gives more light (when viewed from earth) than the stars (Telestial). While people in the Terrestrial kingdom receive of God's glory, they cannot receive of His fullness or dwell eternally in His presence.

In Mormonism the glory of the Telestial Kingdom is compared to that of the stars. People who are sent to the Telestial Kingdom will be the last to be resurrected and cannot dwell where God and Christ live. This final resurrection will take place after the Millennium.

    The telestial kingdom comprises those who say they are some of one and some of another—some of Christ and some of John, and some of Moses, and some of Elias, and some of Esaias, and some of Isaiah, and some of Enoch;

These are they that received not the gospel, neither the testimony of Jesus, neither the prophets, neither the everlasting covenant; these all are they who will not be gathered with the saints, to be caught up unto the church of the Firstborn, and received into the cloud.

These of the telestial kingdom are they who are liars, and sorcerers, and adulterers, and whoremongers, and whosoever loves and makes a lie, who suffer the wrath of God on earth.

Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus’ incarnation was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary. They believe Jesus is a God, but that any human can also become a god.

Mormons believe these things about God: that He has not always been the Supreme Being of the universe, but attained that status through righteous living and persistent effort. They believe God the Father has a “body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s.”

Though abandoned by modern Mormon leaders, Brigham Young taught that Adam actually was God and the father of Jesus Christ.

Sin and the Temple of God

Sin is lawlessness, that is, not the absence of the law, but active rebellion against the law.

The body is the “temple of the God,” where the “Holy Spirit” resides in the “children of God.”

We are to glorify God in our body and in our spirit, which requires us to get rid of any filthiness and uncleanness of the flesh and of the mind.

The “temple of God ” should be kept continuously clean for God to use as He wills for His glory in being witnesses to the world of His continued presence.

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. (1st Corinthians 6:18)

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1st Corinthians 6:19)

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1st Corinthians 6:20)

The Holy Spirit is the Truth

The Holy Spirit always tells the truth, because He is the Spirit of truth from God sent in the name of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

The spirit of error always tells the lie, because it is from Satan, the father of the lie, and there is no truth in him.

The Faith of Abraham

We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. (1st John 5:19)

For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. (Romans 4:13)

Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all (Romans 4:16)

Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. (Galatians 3:7)

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” (Galatians 3:8)

So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. (Galatians 3:9)

that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:14)

Faith Accounted as Righteousness

But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, (Romans 4:5)

just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: (Romans 4:6)

“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered; (Romans 4:7)

Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. (Romans 4:9)

For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. (Romans 5:13)

Now it was not written for his (Abraham's) sake alone that it was imputed to him, (Romans 4:23)

but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, (Romans 4:24)

who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification. (Romans 4:25)

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Greater is He who is in Us

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. (John 14:23)

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1st John 4:4)

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.  (1st John 2:20)

I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. (1st John 2:21)

and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (2nd Timothy 3:15)

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, (2nd Timothy 3:16)

that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2nd Timothy 3:17)

The Prophetic Word Confirmed

And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. (2nd Peter 2:18)

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; (2nd Peter 2:19)

knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, (2nd Peter 2:20)

for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2nd Peter 2:21)

Do not Add nor Take Away from the Word of God

You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2)

“Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it. (Deuteronomy 12:32)

I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him. (Ecclesiastes 3:14)

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; (Revelation 22:18)

and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:19)

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. (Proverbs 30:5)

Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. (Proverbs 30:6)

The Lying Pharisees and Scribes

Don't be like Jesus' antagonists (villians, bad guys, or nemesises) who resented Jesus passionately and were always plotting to kill Him.

The Pharisees and scribes were the antagonists of that time, whereas, today, we have modern-day Pharisees and scribes who seek to destroy and kill Jesus' true servants and ambassadors.

The Pharisees and scribes of old straight out lied to Jesus when discussing the topic concerning the seed of Abraham.

They said to Jesus that they had never been under bondage to anyone, when in fact, they had been under bondage to:

the Egyptians, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, and at the time speaking to Jesus on this particular occasion, were under the power of the Roman Empire.

The Pharisees consisted of scholars, laymen and scribes, and they had many supporters.

The Pharisees rejected the bloody sacrifices performed in the Temple.  Instead they emphasized prayer and the study of the Law.

Many of the Pharisees, as Saul of Tarus, before becoming the Apostle Paul, were true and honest in their beliefs;

however, their righteous fell short of the glory of God.  They resented Jesus as Paul did before he was converted from Judaism to Christianity.

A struggle between the Pharisees and the temple aristocracy on or about 100 B.C. started on who should control and govern Judaism.

From the temple aristocracy (a privileged ruling class; nobility; government by a privileged minority or upper class, usually of inherited wealth and social position) grows a group known as Sadducees.

The Pharisees and Sadducees had different views on the resurrection; both of their views were wrong.

Jesus' resurrection constituted being raised from the dead with a transformed body that was clothed with immortality and glory.

His resurrection body could appear and disappear, go through material objects, and ascend to and descend from heaven.

Jesus brought a number of people to life from the dead, including Martha's brother Lazarus, who had been dead for four days.

However, Lazarus' resurrection was resuscitation (restoration of consciousness or life functions after apparent death), in that, he later died again; whereas, Jesus, "the resurrection and the life," lives forevermore.

unless it is for this one statement which I cried out, standing among them, ‘Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged by you this day.’” (Acts 24:21)

Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? (1st Corinthians 15:12)

The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, (Matthew 22:23)

The Apostle Paul was opposed by both the Pharisees and the Sadducees, because the gospel or biblical resurrection meant or represented something, that is,

other than that which had been previously affirmed by the Pharisees but denied by the Sadducees.

For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:20)

The occult (of or pertaining to magic, astrology, or any system claiming use or knowledge of secret or supernatural powers or agencies; secret; disclosed or communicated only to the initiated) is composed of many modern-day-type Pharisees, scribes, and Sadducees.

Come Unto Jesus and Rest

Cult members of many Christian and non-Christian organizations are suffering under loads of  religious responsibilities laid upon them by their religious leaders as the priests, rabbis, scribes, and Pharisees did in the days of old.

The Pharisees established 39 categories of actions forbidden on the Sabbath, and according to their righteousness, the disciples broke the Sabbath by harvesting on it.

In essence, what the Pharisees were really attempting to do was to make Jesus a lawbreaker and accuse Him of wrongdoing through His disciples; but as usaul, they were the ones wrong. .

As it was then and as it is today, Jesus offers relief from burdens brought on by hypocrites.

All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. (Matthew 11:27)

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:30)
